One of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe, where massive volumes of glacial water crash 44 meters down into the rugged Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. Fed by meltwater from Vatnajökull glacier, the waterfall carries sediment that gives it a raw, grey color and an intense, thunderous presence. Unlike more “pretty” waterfalls, Dettifoss is known for its sheer force and dramatic, almost apocalyptic landscape.
